What’s Elegy for a Dead World?

Explore distant worlds inspired by the works of British Romantic era poets, and write fiction about the people who once lived there.

How is Elegy helping learning?

For creative writing classes, Elegy inspires students to write stories, poems, and songs by combining a loose narrative framework with hand-painted art and rich soundscapes. In English as a second language (ESL) classes, students practice their grammar skills by entering short phrases into fill-in-the-blank sections that serve as the narrative framework.

“One of my students has dyslexia and struggles with reading and writing. She took to Elegy right away and wrote for almost an hour” — Russell Reznick, Teacher

What topics are educators teaching?

Elegy has already received a number of accolades, including an Independent Games Festival 2014 honorable mention, a Game Developer Conference Experimental Gameplay Workshop selection, and two IndieCade International Festival of Indie Games selections.

Drawing interest from educators, the game raised $72k in its October 2014 Kickstarter campaign, hitting 150% of its $48k funding target and reaching a stretch goal to donate 1,000 free keys to academia. To date, Dejobaan has donated keys to over 60 institutions in 14 countries.

The game launched on December 10th 2011 for Windows, Mac, and Linux on Steam.
